Why Be Green?
The environment is a key component to our existence on this planet. We need clean and plentiful land, air, and water as well as diverse plant and animal communities. The environment provides us with benefits such as food, shelter, fiber, fuel, energy, medicine, peace, ideas, and creativity. The protection and enhancement of the environment is important to sustaining this planet for our future generations. Remember, every little bit can make a difference!!
We choose to use organic cotton and water-based ink because the have less impact on the environment than conventional products. By making this choice we are protecting our natural resources and supporting sustainability.
Why organic cotton?
- Organic cotton is produced without the use of harsh chemicals, bleaches or dyes.
- Conventional cotton is the most pesticide-dependent crop in the world, accounting for 25% of all pesticide use.
- One-quarter pound of harmful chemicals is needed to produce each t-shirt made with conventional cotton.
Why water-based inks?
- Conventional inks, like plastisol inks, are made from PVC, the most environmentally damaging plastic. Water-based inks are PVC-free.
- Water-based inks do not use plasticizers to make the ink flexible, which can be carcinogenic and release toxins into the air when heated.
- Water-based inks are not made with petroleum-based solvents, which can impact the world around us.
