About Us!

Little Green Star was founded in 2006 by two friends in San Francisco, California. Kelley and Victoria met while chatting across cubicles at an environmental consulting company. Their friendship sparked instantly especially after discovering that they both had childhood rock collections, as in geology not music(hee hee)! After a few years of consulting, they decided to use their education and experience to encourage kids to make a difference in "their" world by teaching them simple ways to make the earth a cleaner, safer, and healthier place. Having broadened their knowledge about the benefits of the organic movement, they conceived the idea of a line of organic baby clothes that promote green living.

“This has been an incredible experience building Little Green Star. Our hope is that our shirts will introduce children to practices and concepts that they can incorporate as they are starting to form their own habits, beliefs, values and concepts. Through the process of teaching children we can begin to envision the solution to end a lot of our environmental problems.” Kelley O’Rourke and Victoria Holland

Victoria Holland, co-founder, has been interested in protecting the environment since a high school science teacher taught her about recycling and reusing. She received a degree in Geology from Georgia State University in Atlanta, and worked as an environmental consultant to identify areas of soil and water contamination throughout the United States. Since having two kids, Victoria is a full time mom, and makes Little Green Star a part of the family. Her boys are an inspiration and can be heard saying “Those are Mommy's T-shirts” or “Please Don't litter!”. She incorporates green concepts into her family’s lifestyle such as eating organic foods, recycling, and taking the bus. Victoria and her family are living green in San Francisco, California.

Kelley O'Rourke, co-founder, has always strived to enact her passion for the environment. Long dedicated to water quality issues, she has helped a village in the Dominican Republic understand the importance of clean drinking water, specialized in Hydrology at UC Davis, and then moved to become an environmental consultant helping companies comply with various federal and state environmental laws. In 2006 she graduated from USF with a Master of Science in Environmental Management. She is hopeful that Little Green Star will begin to create a fun dialogue between parents and children about the importance of protecting our natural resources. Kelley and her hybrid-driving husband are living green in San Francisco, California.
